Three ways to tie laces

Jul 15, 2018 by Asha Subramaniam

Check out this great video with three ways to tie shoelaces. We pretty much work on shoelace tying with someone every single day! Really!! Velcro is awesome, but now nobody knows how to tie their shoes anymore!!

For kids who have fine motor difficulties, you can use pipe cleaners or stikki wikki as laces so they don’t move as much and are easier to hold.

We also suggest using two different coloured laces because it makes it easier to see when one goes over the other. Especially for kids who have trouble with visual perceptual skills like seeing that the laces are over or under.

Laces aren’t just on shoes! You tie garbage bags, skipping ropes and lots of other things.
